Supporting Students Through Real-World Mock Interviews at St John Rigby College

At ASH Integrated Services, giving back means showing up, sharing experience, and helping young people feel more confident about their future. 

Recently, our Director Antony Grace spent the day at St John Rigby College, supporting students during a Careers Assessment Mock Interview Day.  

The sessions were part of the college’s wider careers programme. They helped students prepare for interviews, assessments, and the move into work or further study.

For many students, this was their first experience of a formal interview setting.  

Antony focused on creating a relaxed, supportive environment where students could talk openly about their interests, strengths, and next steps. 

He wasn’t there to judge performance.  

Instead, it was about helping students understand what employers are really looking for and how to present themselves with confidence. 

Drawing on his own experience as a business owner who regularly recruits, trains, and develops people, Antony was able to give honest, practical feedback. 

He talked through common interview questions and explained how employers assess attitude as well as ability. He also helped students spot the skills they already have, even if they have not noticed them yet. 

Mock interviews like these play an important role in bridging the gap between education and the world of work. 

While students gain strong academic foundations, they don’t always get the chance to practise professional communication, talk through their achievements, or build confidence in a real interview scenario.  

Employer-led sessions help bring those pieces together.
