ASH Integrated Services has been named a finalist in two categories at the Wigan Business Awards.
The Wigan-based mechanical and electrical contractor has been shortlisted for Skills Investment Excellence and Engineering, Manufacturing and Trade Business of the Year, recognising the company’s continued investment in people, technical standards and responsible business growth.
For ASH, the recognition comes after a strong period of development for the business, which has grown significantly since being founded in 2019.
The company now employs 59 local people, including 8 apprentices.
Recognition For Skills Investment
Being shortlisted for Skills Investment Excellence reflects the commitment ASH has made to developing its own workforce.
In a sector facing ongoing skills shortages, ASH has chosen to invest in people at every stage of their career, from apprentices starting out in the industry to experienced engineers, supervisors and managers taking on further responsibility.
The business invests heavily each year in apprenticeship development alone and has delivered hundreds of hours of wider staff development over the last 12 months.
That investment includes technical training, compliance, management development, professional qualifications and specialist areas such as Legionella control, renewables and low-carbon awareness.
For ASH, skills investment is part of how the business protects its future.
The company believes employers have a responsibility to help build the workforce their industries need.
You’ll be waiting a long time if you’re waiting for somebody else to solve the skills gap!
Engineering, Manufacturing And Trade Excellence
ASH has also been shortlisted for Engineering, Manufacturing and Trade Business of the Year.
This category recognises businesses that demonstrate quality, reliability, skill and strong delivery within technical and trade sectors.
ASH brings mechanical, electrical and in-house fabrication together under one roof, giving clients a single point of contact across planned works, reactive maintenance and wider building services.
The business supports clients across education, hospitality, manufacturing, commercial buildings, housing and public sector environments, helping reduce complexity, improve communication and keep work coordinated from planning through to delivery and ongoing support.
Quality is maintained through skilled people, strong supervision, recognised standards and purposeful investment in the team.
ASH also holds a strong range of accreditations across safety, compliance, electrical, gas, air conditioning, Legionella control, environmental management, cyber security and sustainability.
A Proud Moment For The ASH Team
Co-Director Antony Grace said the team is over the moon to be named as finalists in both categories.
The shortlisting is especially meaningful because it recognises two areas that sit at the heart of ASH.
Developing people and delivering high-quality technical work 🙂
ASH has grown carefully since 2019, with a focus on sustainable growth, realistic capacity, strong standards and long-term careers.
The business turned over £8 million last year and is targeting £8.5 million for 2026/27, representing planned growth of 6.25%.
That growth depends on having skilled, confident and committed people who can deliver quality work safely and consistently.
Looking Ahead To The Wigan Business Awards
The Wigan Business Awards celebrates businesses from across the borough, recognising achievement, ambition and positive impact within the local economy.
Being shortlisted in two categories is a proud moment. It’s a reflection of the work taking place across the whole team.
Whatever the outcome on the night, the message remains clear.
ASH is building a serious, sustainable M&E business in Wigan.
Investing in people, raising standards and proving that doing the job properly should be the standard, not the exception.
